How to know if a wire is connected to a control (in the case of subVI)?

Solved!

Good stuff... for many data types. But boolean controlse sure present a challenge to employ this strategy

Then it's a good thing you could use a channel wire instead

OMG! When everyone was suggesting to set the default value as a different/illegal value, I'm quite surprised that it hit no one about the Control being a Boolean. Smiley Surprised

Why would anyone have noticed that comment to even reply to it?  The messages have several other ones between them, are on different pages. They are 9 years apart chronologically.  I don't think "everyone" was suggesting anything.  Just one person in a relatively minor message that is 9 years old.

I'm not talking about today; but (I meant) I was wondering why this Boolean thing didn't strike anyone 9 years ago itself!

Ok, if you want to go by the precise count, then it is 2 (Lynn & Gerd), NOT just one person! But ironically, Gerd's had got marked as the Solution, although Lynn was the one who suggested it first!

9 years ago we didn't value solutions as much as today.  And the solution is often a synergistic effort.   That any solution is marked is usually fine.

The obvious work around for boolean back then is wrap it with metadata.

Variant +attribute, cluster, etc.. channel wires do that for you now.

I quite disagree with this one statement! What is the reason behind your saying so?! Just curious...

The ability to mark several posts as the solution is rather recent. 2 years? I doubt anyone will go back to 5-10 year old threads to add solution marks. 🙂

I don't think several (multiple) posts can be marked as the solution!

ASAIK, only the OP (author) can mark a particular post/reply as the Solution. In this case, it shows Accepted by topic author R0b1n 08-27-2015 04:09 PM.

So it clear shows, people mark Solution even after 5 years or so! Smiley Happy

Not. Exactly .  But those who can mark solutions rarely do.  That time frame was just about when ni started sending emails about topics started but not solved.  There was an annoying glitch that sent mass reminders for old posts
