Hello,

like in the title, do you know what software I can use (a simple one, i'm a newbie) to creating simple gif animations?

Thank you very much.

Hi GerdW,

thanks for your reply. Well I tried to google it and faound that create a gif from a series of images is really that simple. Bigger problem is how to create the imges one by one, is there an alternative, quicker, to photoshop?

Hi FM,

Bigger problem is how to create the imges one by one,

Biggest problem is you don't supply sufficient information to answer that question!

When you want to create an animated GIF you need to have the frame images…

Infact this applies to any kind of video stream: where do you get your images from?

is there an alternative, quicker, to photoshop?

Well, installing GIMP is much quicker than buying a Photoshop license before being able to install Photoshop…

Does this answer your question?

Again: provide more information about your problem!

Best regards,
GerdW

You're right GerdW. I need to create animated heat flux and cold flux arrows, the arrow itself must be static but i need to animate the inside. I need to indicate that a pump is running and extracting hot water from a motor and pumping in cold water to refrigerate it. I do not have any static image, i need to do all the work. Hope now is more clear.

Hi FM,

- read up in the UI Interest Group about UI enhancements.

- I think the DSC module comes with alot of UI elements (like motors, pipes, valves), which you can animate. (Never used that module, only saw some images.)

- You can draw anything you like using a 2DPictureIndicator…

- You can customize (nearly) any FP element to use user-supplied images…

- You can use PictureRings to show different images…

Why do you need animated GIFs for this task?

Best regards,
GerdW

1#

So, you have to create a series graphics 0...n, or at least two images.

2#

the freeware virtual dup is my preffered tool to turn a enumerated image sequence 1,2,..,n into a gif.

It is also capable of extracting a series of images from a video file or an already existing gif.

@THIS is a gif @ 5fps created with 4 images of which image 1=3 and 2=4
