How do I make the 'operate value tool' the default tool?

Solved!
Go to solution

I recently upgraded from LabView 8.2 to LabView 8.6 and now the 'Operate Value Tool' is the 'Position/Size/Select Tool' by default.  Is there a way I can make the 'Operate Value Tool' the default tool?

Thanks,

Kevin

Actually, when you're running a VI the tool becomes the operate tool. You cannot make a tool the default, but have you considered having the Automatic Tool Selection turned on? It's quite nifty.

EDIT: deleted my original message, it was incorrect.

Try out the automatic tool selection as smercurio suggests.  Holding down shift while the automatic tool selection is active will give you the second-most-useful tool for that moment; when hovering over a control, you'll get position/size/select.
