How do I check to see if two files are identical

I wish to check two text files to see if they are identical. Is there a high level way, or do I need to specifically read the files and compare the data. I am using a PC running windows 2000.

You can call the DOS command comp with "System" and redirect the result into a text file. At the end you read the text file to see the comparison result.

Type comp /? at a DOS command prompt to see the help for comp.

See "" in attachment. You can do something very similar with comp.

I hope it will help you.
