Grayed out block diagram

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello,

I have a problem in opening a vi (which is not written by me), I am not able to open the block diagram of the vi,

am sure that it is not password protected!

even the vi properties option is not available!

not even run and stop buttons also visible in this vi

What could be the reason for the following problems, any suggestions to open the block diagram?

Could you post the VI?  You did not show anything useful.

But some random thoughts on what the issue could potentially be:

1. File is set to Read Only

2. The VI was saved with the block diagram removed

This is a "Globals" vi. It is intended to host global variables (controls that can be accessed by any vi in your project).

As such, it has no block diagram, because there is no associated executable code.

To use this vi, pick the vi icon and drop it to another vi's block diagram, then click on the created global and select the one you need.

Search for Global Variable in the LabVIEW help.
