Hello All,
Is it possible to generate a 100 ms analog voltage output pulse in labview? The hardware I have is CDAQ 9171 and NI 9482 (Relay Module).
The relay module has a switch rate of 1 second, so I think I am limited with the hardware capability.
What would be the right hardware (Module) to use for this application ? Also, would daqassistant (Generate counter output signal) be sufficent with the right hardware?
Thanks!

Where are you seeing the 1 second thing?
The manual for it says:
Relay release time.............................10 ms max
Relay operate time ............................15 ms max
Relay bounce time ............................3 ms
Alternatives would be the NI 9485 (also a relay, but solid state so the switching goes faster) or NI 9263 (self-powered).
Just how precise does the 100 ms need to be? Would 90 or 110 be ok?

Hi Kyle,
If the relay switch rate is 10 ms max, I should be able to work with NI 9482.
100ms value is is not too flexible. A lower ms value might be acceptable but not higher.
Also, I am hesitant to use delay functions to achieve this due to the inherent uncertainty in the output.
Would would you suggest will be the right function to use for this application ?
Generate counter output signal ? or create CO output (time) channel vi ?
Thanks!

Why are you trying to use a relay switch for an analog output instead of an analog output module?

I am kinda limited with hardware. A NI 9482 is what I have at hand.
What hardware do you recommend for this application ?

should do the job with an external voltage source of the correct value

Thanks Jeff.
Looks like the 9472 has a switch rate of exactly what I need.
Should I want to go with a lower switch rate (< 100ms), will a NI 9474 do the job ?
Thanks!

That is a question for your local NI Sales Rep! they can speak with you directly for more information about your exact needs.
