Hi there,
I am having rather poor experience in Lab View and I am facing a problem trying to use an IEEE 1394 camera. I tried several stuff I found on NI forums, suggested for similar issues, but they did not work for me.
My camera is not visible in NI MAX device and interfaces, but I can grab images using the software that the company provides.
Equipment: Marlin F-146b, Lab View 2016, Windows 7.
Could anyone guide me how to resolve such issue?
Many thanks in advance.

After installing fresh Windows 10, problem persists. Is any one aware of a VAS that contains also the firewire drivers. Although for all I have downloaded they say that supports IEEE 1394, doesn't appear as an option when running the installation. Any idea???

Make sure, that windows firewall doesn't block the MAX. Sometimes, the firewall will restrict MAX functionality (it happened to me with a PXI serial card). It is also possible to add a device by the IP-adress only.
Also control, whether the current version of Labview or MAX support this camera.

Thanks for the reply Lysandros, but windows firewall does not block the MAX.
Regarding the possibility of adding a device by the IP only ... how one can do that? The device I want to connect is a camera.

Could you take (and attach) two screenshots from MAX? The first should be of "Devices and Interfaces", as expanded as possible. The second should be of "Software". I couldn't find much information on your camera, but I'm guessing it should be visible if the Camera supports the GenICam standards (I suspect it does), but seeing what you have on your machine would help.

!!! I made a mistake in the description of the equipment. Now I'm running a Win10 64x.
Also I want to mention that, before starting to have issues on this machine, I had Win7 (not sure the version) and LabView 2012. In this initial configuration my camera would be visible in MAX.

I noticed that Network Devices wasn't expanded -- that's where my GigE cameras show up, but I'm not sure where FireWire cameras would appear. Was your Camera plugged into a FireWire Port when you tried this? [It needs to be plugged in to be "seen" by MAX]. If this makes a difference, take another screen shot with all of the Devices and Interface tabs fully expanded.
You should also probably include a shot of Device Manager (with the Camera plugged into the FireWire port). You might just have a bad FireWire Windows driver.
Look for a Private Message from me.

Go on Windows to the Command Prompt (black screen)
Type in ipconfig and press Enter. This will show you what adapters (ethernet, usb, wi-fi) are connected. By connecting/disconnecting your device and entering the command again you might be able to tell if it is been recognized and which one it is.

My camera does not appear in cmd even after connecting or disconnecting it. However, is detectable and manageable/usable from the company's software. I guess this is a good indication that there is communication between the camera and PC.
