Execution Highlight not always on BD

Why is the Execution Highlight not always present on the BD's of the Examples ( e.g. see attached ) ?

Just because the "Allow debugging" in "VI properties/Execution" was checked off...

In addition to what Charley mentioned, if a VI is set to be reentrant, (also a setting in the VI Properties>Execution section) the execuation highlighting is also not available.

I would advise against permanently changing this setting on any of the VI's that come with LabVIEW. Changing the reentrant setting changes the way the VI works and how it is handled in memory, and will cause any VI's that use that VI as a sub-VI to operate different than intended.
