Error while building in LV8.2.1

I created a project using LV8.2 months ago. I upgraded to LV8.2.1 and now when I try to create an exe I get the following error:

"An included VI or one of its dependencies does not exist. Open all  Startup/Exported/Dynamically called VIs, recompile them  (Ctrl-Shift Click the run arrow), and save them to update their dependencies.

C:\MYSQL\Plant Overview Viewer v1.2\code\Run Test\Exit EFactory Viewer.vi"

I opened all the vi's and pressed Ctrl-Shift Click the run arrow, I tried to build the exe again with the same error. The project runs fine through the source code. Not to sure what to do next...any suggestions?

Hello john joe,

This is Dominic L. from Applications Engineering at National Instruments. Did you upgrade LabVIEW 8.2.1 over LabVIEW 8.2? Installing LabVIEW 8.2.1 on top of LabVIEW 8.2 can sometimes cause broken VIs and libraries. The following link discusses some of these issues:

Installing LabVIEW 8.2.1. On Top of LabVIEW 8.2 Causes Broken VIs and Libraries:

Can you run the VI in the development mode? Are you able to create a simple executable? If you haven't tried this yet I strongly recommend doing so. This would help us determine if something is corrupt with your application builder.

Please try this and let me know how it goes. I would be happy to assist you.

Thanks so much and have a great weekend!

Best Regards,

Dominic L.

Dominic,

When I installed 8.2.1 I did install right over 8.2. I didn't know I was suppose to uninstall 8.2 before installing 8.2.1
The application runs fine in development mode. I can create simple executables. I tried following the intructions from the link you provided. I can the *.msi from the installation CD but it didn't make a difference. I also tried the repair file that was attached to the link. Neither one made a difference. I hope you can solve my problem!

Hello John,

I hope you had a nice weekend. Did you try creating a new project in LabVIEW 8.2.1 and then placing these VIs within the project rather than simply opening up the old project created from LabVIEW 8.2? If not, I would recommend trying this and see if it works.

If you still receive this error, would it be possible to attach your project? I would like to know if I can duplicate this error from my end. Hopefully, we can resolve this issue very soon.

Thanks again and have a nice day John!
Best Regards,

Dominic L.

It seems to work now. I had to rebuild the entire project again in Project Explorer.

Thanks
