OK,  Paul, I'll ask!  Why not?  Did you have a poor experience?  Please elaborate.

It would cause LV 2018 to crash every time I tried to open the VI.  In LV 2019 and 2020, it would open OK (but slowly) and it would always have a dirty *.

A bit more detail...  Frankly, it "Should " work.  (I am not saying that placing an X-control ANYWHERE is the best idea) but your blanket statement "Don't Do This" begs for specific reasons and examples.
