Disassembling an ultra sound DICOM clip.

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello everyone,

Recently some peers and I have begun a project which required the acquisition and manipulation of DICOM images from a 2D ultrasound. Our goal is to efficiently break up and sort the various clips received from the ultrasound module into distinct images. Then, save them onto proper median for further processing.

Within our group we have moderate LabVIEW experience but only have a very vague idea of how to complete this project. I’ve done some reading on the DICOM medical image standard but not entirely sure what the best way to implement a functioning system within the LabVIEW developing environment. I am aware LabVIEW has no native support for DICOM images, and this seems to be the biggest obstacle. Does anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to handle these images within the LabVIEW environment.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hey, Biomedical Startup Kit will soon release a new verion to support reading DICOM image in LabVIEW. You could find more info about the kit in http://decibel.ni.com/content/groups/biomedical-user-group. Welcome to post request in user group. That's a suitable place for biomedical users. Thanks! Zhijun Gu, Thanks for the information. The link provided me with a lot of insight on biomedical systems. Unfortunately I don't believe it relates to my project. I'm sorry. I believe you misunderstood my question, probably my fault I was a bit vague. Fortunately though, I have manage to get the resources to acquired the ultrasound clips onto a SD card in a DICOM video format. The problem is how would a system programmatically dissect this video into still frames. My project required that I somehow save these independent DICOM frames to another median for further processing. If anyone has any experience in this field any suggestions would be of great value. Thanks, Taylor S. Amarel
