Develop VIs on a linux server but the test hardware would be on a remote windows system

I want to develop and control VIs on a linux system, where as, the DAQ HW would be on a remote system running windows. That is, many developers writing VIs on a high end linux server yet sharing test hardware on a remote system. Sounds plausible but has anyone got this setup to work seamleassly?
