Datasocket in DSC

win 2K, LabVIEW 6i/6.1

i need to receive several signals of a network-application in my DSC Application.
Connection with DS writer and DS reader is working, when using DSC i can create a tag, safe the scf-file, run the engine and the DataSocketServer on the network-PC shows "processes connected +1".
So far so good - but in the Tag Monitor i have the tag only with 0 or false, no values are available and i tried with array, analog, boolean ... without success, any tipps? thanks

Janosch,

if you use LabVIEW DSC's Datasocket Server (VI-based proxy server) and the tags you generated are Input/Output tags, the Datasocket items need to be confiugred as multiple writers... (the engine tag is a writer, if the tag is an output tag and the DS Writer VI is the second writer) You can do that only in the Datasocket Server Manager by defining the DS items in the manager and selecting the "Allow Multiple Writers".

That might be one source of your problem (and you should see an error in the DSC Engine System events - I think).

You might as well get the latest Datasocket VI-based Server from this link: LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisor
y Control Module Version 6.1 for Windows 2000/95/98/ME/NT/XP -- Fixes .

And last, Tag Monitor reads just from the DSC Engine the tag (Logos real-time point) and not directly from the Datasocket server.

Hope one of those things explains what you see, let us know.

Roland

Where is your data coming from? If this is another LabVIEW application, you may be able to write data directly to memory TAGS in DSC. This removes the requirement for datasocket. See the document:

OR SEARCH FOR "dsc +rt"

the other application will be LabVIEW, so i will test now also memory tags.

What makes me crazy is: i can configure the item of the DS server, get the connection and see the quality good or bad (tag monitor) if not connected, also engine manager displays connection is ok:
EVENT 03/21/2003 09:15:42 Historical data logging turned on.
EVENT 03/21/2003 09:15:41 Event logging turned on.
EVENT 03/21/2003 09:15:41 DataSocket Launched.
EVENT 03/21/2003 09:15:38 Configuration "appname_5.scf" Loaded.
EVENT 03/21/2003 09:15:38 Tag Engine Started.

-> "only" trouble is that the value allways is 0.
I tried the fixes of DS/Proxy without success,
are there any additional fixes/bugs known?
