DataSocket crashes when I start my VI (with datasocket enabled controls)

LabVIEW 6.0.2, DataSocket 4.0 (from LV 6.0.2 install)
Win 2000 SP2, AMD Athlon, 256MB ram, 10G hdd.

I write a VI with several boolean controls.
I connect two of the controls to datasocket, to different data items, Bool_xx1 and Bool_xx2 respectively.

I start DataSocket Server. ok.
I run my VI. Datasocket server crashes.

urls selected for the data items are:
dstp://localhost/Bool_xx1; dstp://localhost/Bool_xx2

Also tried this with the two data items added to
the predefined data items. same result.

Thanks in advance
Dave

I tried to reproduce this problem but was not successful. Are you using buttons or LED's? If buttons, what is the mechanical action set to? If it is set to Latch I would suggest trying Switch.

Another option is to move the server to another networked machine. If you do you will have to change the URL's for the data items.

Lastly, you might try reinstalling datasocket. The latest version can be downloaded form:

Actually, I've tried and had the same problem with the datasocket examples in
the help->examples->communication->datasocket. (yes, all of them!!!)

A bit more info: it always happens when I start a reader before a writer. I happens the second time I start a writer.
I've forgotten exactly what the error and the "call chain" is. I've got them written down, at home.
