Data Socket Firewall Port

Hello,

I want my LabWindows/CVI program running on the network using Data Socket.
The problem is the data socket server shouldn't be open the firewall (the network need high security level), so that other clients couldn't get in to the firewall in Windows XP.
So, is there any specific port number for the data socket? so that I can only allow the clients to connect through that port?
Or any other method that I can use?

Thanks,
yk.

Unfortunately I don't have the answer to your question. I would suggest, if this is a LabWindows/CVI question, that you post it on their thread, where the experts in LW/CVI are more likely to see it. We have some multitalented individuals that lurk on both threads, but you are more likely to get a timely answer there.

I read "somewhere", quite some time ago that DataSocket uses port 3015. Unfortunately, I cannot, at the moment locate the original source of the information. You might give this port a try, and hope that it helps out. Good luck Dave

Yes, I got that port number from the LabWindows/CVI section.

And that worked well.

Thanks for the concern and help.

What is the port.  Some people are search for the same answers.  If you found it please list it and document it in the forum.

It's been documented in the KnowledgeBase for quite a few years (but the KB just gets bigger and bigger): What Ports Do I Need to Open on My Firewall for National Instruments Software Products?
