Darren's Weekly Nugget 02/09/2009

Hi Ben,

It is my understanding that the certification team is currently investigating alternatives to the 2-year recertification requirement.

Haha... No doubt about that!

Like Ben said, the 2 years renewal is a bit of a pain. For the CLAD 2 years
seem reasonable, but do people really forget the CLD and CLA material within
two years?

One argument has always been: "you have to renew after two years, because if
you don't use LabVIEW for two years, you have forgotten how to use it.".
Well, who whould be stupid enough to take a CLA/D exam, and then not use
LabVIEW anymore?

I could live with 3 or 4 years, but going through this every second year...

Regards,

Wiebe.

That was some gentle hadling of a delicate topic. Good work. Now if we can get them to complete the investigation before December....

Hello Darren,

I heard that symposiums have offered the certification tests for free.  Is this true and for all or some symposiums?  If so, how do I find out which ones are offered at which symposium?

Thanks

I have heard of free CLAD exams being offered, but I don't know anything about their frequency.  Your local NI sales rep would probably be your best source of information on that.

This NI Days, in the Netherlands the CLAD will be free, if registered
upfront.

Wiebe.

Hi Darren,
I recently discovered your precious nuggets, most of which are still essential even though LabVIEW has evolved a lot in the meantime. I have yet to take CLD actually, but I noticed that the link to the "Preparing for the CLA" post in your blog is broken. I only found this. Perhaps the CLA preparation post was removed because it was obsolete...?
Even though this topic goes back a long time, I hope to have a feedback from you.
Thanks in advance, and best regards,
Alessia

The link probably broke because the website too evolved in the meantime.
