DAQ Assistant Missing/ Help without it?

Hello! So I am trying to measure temperature using thermocouples attached to my NI-9211 device that is then attached to cDAQ-9171. I looked up tutorials on the internet and all of them so far use DAQ assistant which is missing from my LabVIEW. Does anyone know what to do to install it? I've downloaded several items from the download site on NI.com or does anyone know how to measure these readings without using the DAQ assistant? Thank you

Did you install DAQmx drivers when you installed LabVIEW?

No, the OP Did not install DAQmx support for the version of LabVIEW He/She is using.

What OS? DAQ Assistant may be platform dependant.  At least for some versions of DAQmx

So if you do not have the Dreaded DAQ Assistant, but do have DAQmx installed, you can learn how to "do DAQ Right" by reading Learn 10 Functions in NI-DAQmx and ..., then ignoring the stuff using DAQ Assistant, substituting the "real" DAQmx code as shown.

Of course, if you don't have DAQmx, you'll need to get it (and might also get the Dreaded DA, but you don't have to use it!).

Howdy! I have downloaded several versions of DAQmx in hopes the DAQ assistant would show up but alas, no luck. I am running on windows 7.

Post a link to one of those versions you downloaded.

You are seriously better off without the (Dreaded) DAQ Assistant.  Read the "Learn 10 Functions in NI-DAQmx" article.

So it looks like I did download the DAQmx file however it didn't actually set up. The file shows up as a compressed folder and it won't allow me to extract it nor to directly click on the setup application in the folder. I also am not finding any of the other functions in the Learn 10 Functions document.

1. What version of LabVIEW are you using?

2. What version of DAQmx did you install?

I am a student attempting to get readings from thermocouples but so far I have no luck. I have downloaded labview 2017 but only using the evaluation period. I also believe DAQmx did not install correctly. It seems like nothing in Labview is working properly. I know there's a student version of the software... would this help me?
