Convert variant to Integer I16

Hallo,

i am unexperienced LabVIEW's user and I want to convert variant data into I16. For this purpose, I use variant to Data function form LabVIEW Block diagram. I can't define a constant/control I16 to connect to the specified port.

Do anyone has a clue on how to actually do this?

thanks for your help

Drop a numeric constant (it's the blue one) on your block diagram.

It will default to a I32.

Right Click on it and change it to I16

Capture.PNG

after creating the numeric constant you need to select its representation from a Right-Click

Hi Aristocate,

you put a numeric constant on your BD, right-click it and change it's representation to I16…

This is pretty basic LabVIEW programming so you should take the time to go through all those free beginner resources offered by NI!

hi all,

Thanks for your help!

I would like to take the CLDA certificate. Do you have some recommendation to make concerning self-learning material and free online test?

Well its a CLAD if we are talking about the same certification.  Look over on the Certification forum under the special interest boards for some worthwhile advice.
