Controlling a Hitachi L100 VFD in Labview

I found Hitachi makes their own controller software ProDrive, but I'd like to keep as much of the program inside of labview as possible. I've looked into using the Modbus library a bit, but I can't find any good place to start learning how to use it.

Also, Modbus talks about using RJ45 as a controlling interface and my L100 has a RJ45 port, but I've read that Hitachi uses a proprietary protocol for control, would I be able to avoid getting a RJ45 to USB connector by using Modbus?

Thanks,

Gary

Hi,

I found a link that may be of use to you. This is an external link and doesnt have any relations to National Instruments. However, this may help you in your project.

Hi,

Sorry about the eairler post. I was reading through the Hitachi L100 Manual. My suggestions would be to go with the RS232/422 converter (you may need a USB to RS232). Just because you want to find out how to communicate with the device.
