Yes, compilation means to translate your code into a (kind of) executable for your target. But this only includes code respecting the manuals and the limitations mentioned in there. Again: did you take the FPGA courses as offered by NI? Did you read the basics for "FPGA with NI hardware"?

Why do you "assume" something, when there is something else written in the manuals?
(Example: NI-FPGA doesn't support the DBL datatype.)
