This indicates that your computer is running out of GDI resources. This
is one of the major problems with these non-NT based OSes, they have
limited amounts of these resources, so a bug in a video driver has a
small leak, and 50K later, your computer is acting funny.
To verify this, check your GDI or graphics resources. I have never used
ME, but there is usually some way of finding this as a percentage. You
will probably see that it starts somewhere around 20%, you start LV and
other apps up and it climbs to 50 or 60%. As you run your apps the
number continues to climb slowly and when it reaches 85 or 90%, funny
things start happening with the graphics. Things are just missing.
Eventually you might see crashes of the OS or apps or a blue screen.
One short term workaround is just to reboot occasionally before you lose
any work. If you find a more recent version of the video driver for
your video card, that usually fixes it. Another option is to ask again
about using Win2000 or WinXP. They come with newer video drivers that
are simpler for the card makers to write, therefore they tend to have
fewer bugs. They also do not have the 64K limits on these resources, so
a leak may only affect you after several months rather than several
times a day.
Another thing to try, but this is a bit of a longshot is to change
screen depth. That sometimes changes enough about the video driver that
the problem will either get better or get worse.
Finally, if you are doing lots of printouts, I think I remember a bug in
LV where standard printing leaked something like a font or a region
under certain circumstances. In that case, it is LV's fault and you
should contact NI support. One workaround for that is to not use
standard printing, but in Tools Options switch to using Postscript or
bitmap. There is also a later version of LV though.
Hope this helps.
