Changing layer order of front panel controls

Hi, is it possible to programmatically change the layer order of front panel
controls. I want to send a control to the back on my main window through a
property node in a sub vi, is this possible??? Cheers, Tom.

Actually, I don't think you can do this. Changing the layering requires that the VI be in edit mode, which it is not when you are running the VI.

How can I change the layering in Edit Mode? I can't seem to find a "send to back" or "bring to front" command in any menu.

The revolving arrows, to the right of align and distribute in the
toolbar allow for what you want. The key equivalents are something like
ctl-j and ctl-k for moving one step and ctl-shift moves all the way.

You need to hit the button that has the blue and yellow buttons on it.

Answering an eleven year old thread?

Yep.  I figured if I could end up here after googling "how to change layers in labvew" others will end up here too.  Answering unfinished threads... this is my contribution to posterity.

To:           Chon.Mech -   Thanks for taking the time to answer. That answer was the best, even if 10 years later...   Sadly, "bring to front", which is a pretty well known concept, is not mentioned in the NI help system.
