I didn't mention NXG as a solution. At the moment NXG still being developed not it's not nearly done. The problems with (lack of) Unicode is one of the reasons NI started over. NXG will get low level control, or nobody will use it. At the moment it's only useful in corner cases: simple DAQ or Web VIs.

NXG will replace CG.
