Can't see my RS232 ports on my NI DAQ 6501.

Solved!

Hi All,

I've got a NI DAQ 6501 working well.. However, now I would like to use the serial port capability on the DAQ 6501. I double-checked the software installation in MAX, and I do have Visa & NI-Serial installed. When I look at the cFP-2120 in Max, I see the LED's, some assorted inputs, dipswitches, but not one of the  serial ports.is working.

Can you please suggest in this regard.

Thanks,

Sandhya

I think you may be a bit confused about the capabilities of the 6501.  It's a digital I/O device that connects over USB.  I don't think it has anything to do with RS-232.

On the other hand, your 2120 has 3 RS-232 and 1 RS-485.  Post your code for those and someone here can probably help you out.

Serial ports on the cFP-2120 will not appear in MAX.  The reason is that none of the cFP controllers are capable of running NI-VISA Server.
