Again, what do you mean by "hex format"?

An ASCII string that only has characters 0 through 9 and A through F?  For a U16, this will be 4 bytes long.

A raw/binary/hex value that has the same raw value as the U16?  This will be 2 bytes long.

This is why I emphasis giving clear examples.
