Unfortunately, the LabVIEW+AI pair is not at a level yet to achieve the vibe-coding that other text languages support (my benchmark is able to develop a complete application based on the user's natural language requirements)

I'm not agreeing with the use of "unfortunately" here. 🙂

The included Nigel AI has some basic functionality, that's where we are currently. You can ask and get decent answers from e.g. ChatGPT, but it doesn't generate a VI.

As other people have already pointed out, there is currently no real way to vibe-code in LabVIEW.

implicitly: you can use the python node or the formula node to inject vibe code directly - that actually works quite "well", ai is like talking to a stubborn child...

explicity: at the moment, you need labview professional (that suffix does matter) to use NIGEL to vibe code

what can be done?

I recently did a very "loose" proof of concept, and asked NIGEL to improve

https://forums.ni.com/t5/Example-Code/Guitar-Tuner-in-LabVIEW/ta-p/3493770

it actually gave some helpful ideas, but I havent tried to ask NIGEL to "improve" that file.vi sitting on my SDD, so I'm still trying out

but what works: hey nigel, there's this C:/users/../file.vi - tell me how to make the process more robust, in terms of reducing false positves

The MCP server described in the following thread might be an option:  LabVIEW MCP Released (Use Claude, GPT, Copilot… to create, analyze, and discuss your code). I haven't used it myself yet.

You're more than welcome to test the LabVIEW-MCP! The results are getting better and better and are already at a usable level!
