Hi All, I was wondering if anybody has controlled an Andor CCd detector using labview. Would you recommend controlling their detectors with labiew. We are looking into buying one of their detectors. Any input would be very much appreciated.
Many Thanks Trevor Swartz Chemistry Dept. Univ. of Ca, Santa Cruz
Can't speak specifically to the Andor CCD. I can speak to the SBIG ST6i and a PixelVision equipped with a thinned, backside illuminated SiTE chip. The former was a serial interface. The latter called DLL functions to a PC interface card. Have written LV interfaces for both of them.
To partially answer your question anyway, LV can be used to successfully interface CCD cameras. I was doing some development on a Raman instrument as I suppose you are doing also.
Took a couple of phone calls to their engineers as both companies documentation required a little clarification but all said and done it was a relatively painless process.
