I am reading the output of my network analyser into labview where I want to display and log the same smith chart that is displayed on the analyser.

 

I am using the input format Smith chart complex (Real & imaginary), then a loop of a 1000 is used to plot each point on the smith chart.

I have tried converting to polar also but this does not work either. The results loop around the open circuit end or are massivley off the scale. 

 

The results on the network analyser spirals around the centre point many times but this is simply due to the large frequency range being measured, this is the result I am trying to acheive.

 

what am I doing wrong? am I missing out some extra mathematical functions?

I would try to change Configure Channel and Trace.vi from Smith Chart Complex (Real/Imag) to Smith Chart Impedance (R + JX).

I have tried all Smith chart Format types, none look correct, this is why I was wondering if any extra mathematical functions needed to be applied.

I don't know what is your expected result but you can try this (but there must be a better way).

This works perfectly for the format Smith Chart Complex (real & Imaginary)
