AT-DIO32F board and system changed for new system with PCI-DIO-32HS board and Windows ME

Hi. We have updated our system from a Pentium 1, Windows 95, AT-DIO-32F board to a pentium III, windows ME, PCI-DIO-32HS board, in order to make some experiments that require handshaking. (We keep using LabVIEW 5.1). According to all the literature we have found so far, there is no need to change the LabVIEW VIs at all, but he have not been able to perform our routines: specifically, the DIO READ VI keeps telling us that it could not read the information in time.

Do you know if the problem is that there exist some incompatibility between Windows ME and LabVIEW 5.1 that prevents us from running smoothly? Is it possible to use Windows 2000 instead and solve this pr
oblem? Or is it something more complex?

For your attention, thank you very much.

Paulo,
check your 'time limit in sec' input for the DIO READ VI. If you have left it at its default setting than the VI will timeout after 1 seconds in a handshaked transfer. You might want to adjust this time limit suitably for your application.

Regarding the compatibility issue, Labview 5.1 has ni-daq version 6.5 on its CD. I am assuming that is the version of ni-daq on your machine. Although the PCI-DIO-32HS is supported by ni-daq 6.5, windows ME has only been tested for ni-daq 6.9.0 or higher. I would encourage you to use the latest ni-daq version on your windows ME machine. You can download our new ni-daq version for free from our website at www.ni.com/download

Labview 5.1.1 is the earliest version of Labview to be supported by windows 2000. Therefore, if you want to
use windows 2000, you'll need to upgrade to labview 5.1.1. (which you can also do for free since you have labview 5.1). The upgrade software, along with detailed compatibility info of windows 2000 and labview 5.1, is available on our website at the following link:

You will also need ni-daq 6.6 or higher for windows 2000.
