The Defense technology development group has a need for a Sr. Test and Measurement Engineer at our Bloomfield, CT location to lead the development of our test automation capabilities. This is a fast-paced, highly technical, and continually evolving product line with a rapid transition from R&D to production. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to lead the test and measurement automation for our entire product line. The ideal candidate will have a background in software/programming, along with a detailed understanding of electronic test equipment.
In this role, you will be the owner of Coherent’s test and measurement infrastructure at our defense laser facilities. The role involves extensive partnering with manufacturing, R&D, and IT organizations.
Provide test, metrology and automation support for activities in production, engineering, and reliability
Work with product engineering and manufacturing teams to develop test methods and automation to meet customer requirements
Maintain and improve existing Test Software Applications
Improved configuration management of our codebase, product specifications, and test processes
Adopt Coherent Software Design Architectures for best practices of code re-use and code sharing
Collaborate with other test engineers to ensure our software infrastructure is reliable, resilient, flexible and maintainable
Drive continuous improvement to the business unit’s test and measurement capabilities:
Improved uptime and faster restoration from upsets
Increased automation and improved data access
Refactor our code base to reduce fragmentation and redundancy
Expand the company’s technical test capabilities
Develop new methods for test automation to improve throughput and reduce hands-on tounch-time
Education and Work Experience:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
BS in engineering (Software, EE, Computer Science) or Physics
At least 2-5 years of experience with LabVIEW & NI data acquisition hardware
Experience with SQL, Python, C# and Matlab are pluses
Experience with source code control tools such as GIT or SVN are pluses
Familiarity and experience with laboratory test instrumentation
DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers
