Need Edit Window for New Cluster Constants

Status: New

We I love the idea of the new cluster constants. I have found thought if I need to edit these constants to change something It opens the control back to full size. This really defeats the purpose of these space saving features. We need to be able to double click these constants and have them open in a new window so that my block diagram size does not change

If my diagram gets this big if I need to change a true or false state every time I need to change it what good is the nice new icon or constant.

Just a thought.

A funny thing happened on the way to me embracing the new cluster constant view.  LV10 also introduced auto-inlining subVIs.  Many of my constants, including the larger clusters are now being migrated to inlined subVIs.  With this I get the same BD savings as the cluster icon, along with a descriptive icon if I choose.  To edit the beast, a double-click opens the VI which is as good as any editor window you will find, and does not blow up the original diagram.

@Darin.K - True, but the Cluster Constant can hold distinct constants per instance, while the single-element-cluster-output wrapper maintains one default output for all instances. This being said, it's generally dangerous to store values in a Typedef'd cluster constant, so you may be on to something...
