NIWeek 2019 SEPAD Track - Call for Speakers!

Four years ago, the LabVIEW Champions brought innovation to NIWeek by hosting the "Advanced Users" track.  The track has evolved over the past few years and grown to include intermediate and advanced content focused on software engineering best practices.  The track is no longer just for advanced users but for any level of developer in the community.  Last year the track received an official name, the Software Engineering Processes Architectures and Design (SEPAD) track.

This year my co-chair, Chris Cilino, and I hope to bring some fresh ideas to the 48 sessions in four rooms across four days!  We are planning to host two mini-tracks within the SEPAD track – "Community” and the “SEPAD Project Track.”  Beyond the mini-tracks we will also group presentations into categories such as OO, Continuous Integration, Abstraction Layers, Frameworks, etc.   The call for speakers has been extended until December 7, 2018 – we hope you’ll consider presenting with the SEPAD track and maybe these mini-track descriptions will inspire some new ideas for you to submit!

The “Community” track will be focus on ways to grow and improve the LabVIEW Community.  Session topics may include User GroupsFIRST Robotics Best Practices or Connecting with your Local NI Resources.  Other topic ideas could be things like Open Source Licensing and Tools for Sharing Code in the community.  Or even How to Defend LabVIEW as a Programming Language.

The “SEPAD Project Track” will follow a theoretical project from start to finish in a single room across all four days.  Along the way, attendees will learn how to interpret project specifications and turn them into requirements.  Hardware and software design decisions and applicable tools will be studied.  Software architectures and team development best practices will be covered as well as verification and validation.  We need help putting together these sessions - if you are interested in participating, please submit an NIWeek 2019 abstract today – include “SEPAD Project Track” and what portion you would be interested in presenting on.  If you have any great ideas for our theoretical project, be sure to include that as well!

Thanks,

Becky
