Read encoder

Hello,

I will trying to read an encoder from stepper motor an (with Arduino Mega).

I've read that you can do it with an  Costum Command.

So I wanted to ask:

Does anyone know a way without Costum Command?
I have trouble with it.

Hardware: Arduino Mega

Software: Labview 2020 20.0f1 (32-bit)

Overall, I would like to control 3 motors via labview and read out or check the steps taken
