LINX Toolkit support missing for labview 2020 community edition.

Hello, this is my first post to technical support on here, let me know if there's any information missing that could help solve this.

I've just installed Labview 2020 Community edition along with Digilent LINX 3.0.1.192 and the MakerHub Toolbox 2.0.0.35. I made a simple analog reading program and LED blinking program all working fine. I have a few DHT11 sensors I wanted to try using and after googling a bit I found that there is an example VI included with LINX for the DHT11 and that LINX should have a DHT read function under LINX>Sensors>Digilent>Interactions Parts Kit.

However I found there are no functions whatsoever in this folder and when I attempt to open the "Interactions DHT11" example I am thrown a warning that LINX Toolkit support for LabVIEW 2020 is missing. I looked into this and attempted to install LINX Toolkit 1.0.0.9 (listed as the only release compatible with the 2020 community edition here) but VIPM couldn't install it and provided the following error details

Main Package Name: NI LabVIEW LINX Toolkit v1.0.0.9
Package Name with Error: NI LabVIEW LINX Toolkit v1.0.0.9
Error Message: VIPM could not install the package ni_labview_linx_toolkit-1.0.0.9 .
Error Code: 8

Further adding to my confusion, looking into the VIPM page of the 1.0.0.9 toolkit here it notes that the 2020 community edition of labview should already have the toolkit installed

"Note 1: Do not install this package if you are running LabVIEW 2020 Community Edition or later, as the Community Edition already includes the LINX Toolkit."

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi NorthChaser,

I think you partly answered to yourself.

Community Edition is already having LINX installed and ready to use. Meaning, that after installing LV Community Edition, you don't have to install anything else in order to use it.

Maybe removing toolkit, you installed through VIPM would help, but I think I would removed everything and installed a new instance of LabVIEW Community Edition.

Hope this helps,

Hi, i´m having some issues with the linx example for the DHT 11. I "upload" the program to the arduino uno and run it, and after a a minute or so an error message appears:

error dht.JPG

how can i solve this?

I have instaled the digilent linx version 3.0.1.192

i have seen/read that adding a custom comand may solve this.

The Digilent Linx version 3.x.x is NOT compatible with LabVIEW 2020. And it is not needed when you install the Community Edition as that installer comes with the NI Linx Toolkit version 1.0.0 already in it.

Unfortunately installing the Digilent Linx version over LabVIEW 2020 is not something you can easily fix by reinstalling the correct NI Linx Toolkit over it. It seems to mess up things beyond the point were a reinstalling of the newer Toolkit would fix it.

Instead the best approach is likely to remove LabVIEW and everything from your machine and start from scratch by installing the LabVIEW for Windows Community Edition and make sure to also install the Linx Toolkit contained in the installer.

Does the install software not allow one to repair the existing installation?
