XY-Mode with Oscilloscope

Hello everyone,

So far I have been using NI Scope Soft Front Panel. There it was very easy to use the XY mode, a mode that shows the relationship between two input signals by plotting the voltage of one signal against that of the other, instead of against time.

So far I have not found this useful feature in InstrumentStudio.

Can I just not find it? Or is it really not implemented?

It does seem so that X-Y plot is not available in NI Scope SFP in InstrumentStudio as of 2025Q4

Hello,

The difficulty you are experiencing is a recognized change for users migrating from the legacy NI Scope Soft Front Panel (SFP) to InstrumentStudio. While the traditional, single-button XY Mode that plots Channel 1 voltage (X-axis) against Channel 2 voltage (Y-axis) is a fundamental feature for displaying Lissajous figures or I-V curves, it does not appear to be implemented as a prominent, dedicated switch in the InstrumentStudio Oscilloscope soft panel. Instead, the functionality is typically achieved by changing the Timebase or Time Mode setting, which may not be labeled as clearly as "XY." You should look for an option under the time control or display settings that allows you to change the X-axis source from Time to a Voltage Channel (e.g., Chan 1). If a simple configuration change is not available, it is possible the feature was omitted from the initial soft panel design for your specific instrument.

Thank you for your detailed reply.

The idea of achieving this functionality by changing the Timebase or Time Mode setting is a good one. I have tried it, but I cannot find a corresponding option in InstrumentStudio.

I am using NI USB-5132. When I use it with the legacy NI Scope Soft Front Panel, I can use the XY Mode. Therefore, I do not think there is a problem with my device. I have probably tried all the buttons in InstrumentStudio, but I have not found a way to change the source of the X-axis from time to a voltage channel. I have attached a screenshot of my InstrumentStudio. Maybe I am blind and overlooking where I need to click. Do you have any idea where I can make such a setting?
