Timeout on one PC, using USB-Serial Converter, but not another, using built-in COM Port

I am usng a VI to rad from an instrument, but am having problems, apparently with the USB-DB9 Converters that are necessary since the PC I want to run it from has no build in serial ports.  When I run the VI on a computer with built in ports with a direct cable, it runs fine. However, when I run it on the other PC, same mettings but with the USB converter, it times out.  What can I do to fix this?

Have you been able to communicate using a terminal emulation program such as Hyperterminal, ProComm, TerraTerm?

Are you specifying the proper COM port number on the USB-Serial converter. Native COM ports on the PC are typically COM1 and COM2. USB-Serial converters may be assigned COM3 or higher.

Hi PhysicsDude,

Are you still having the issue of Timeout, or have you managed to rectify this?

Thanks,
