A windows7 laptop was used to interface with the Thermotron8800, the device ip address was on DHCP, 192.168.88.25, when the laptop was set to be DHCP and connected to the Thermotron through ethernet cable, the laptop ip address beccame 192.168.199.254, which is not right.
Then the Thermotron was set to be staatic ip address 192.168.1.88, subnet 255.255.255.0; and laptop was set to be 192.168.1.100, subnet 255.255.255.0, on laptop it showed unauthrorized network, and ping could not work.
Only way it works is connecting both to a DHCP router.
Has anyone meet similar issues and what is the fix to do TCP/IP interface with static ip address or DHCP without a router?

Just to clarify, is your end goal to connect the device directly to your laptop via an ethernet cable? If that's the case you will not be able to use DHCP since your computer will not act as a DHCP server and the device will not be assigned an IP. Also, have you made sure that you're using a crossover cable? If you're using the same cable to connect directly between the laptop and device as you are when connecting the device through a router then this explains the behavior you're seeing.
Try using a crossover cable while setting a static IP.

Did you have any luck getting the TCP IP settings to work, I am having this exact issue with a laptop.
Any help would be appreciated.
