Need an "usb to CAN" adapter (urgent)

Hi,

We have developed a LabVIEW application that uses a pcmcia CAN-card
to control a motion-application.

Now we need to copy this application to a minipc (aopen).

This is PC without pci or pcmcia slots.
Only USB2.0.

Does anybody know of a USB to CAN adapter that works with NI software?
( LabVIEW CANOpen toolkit)

Thanks in advance !
Thomas.

Have you considered a USB to PCMCIA adapter, to which you can plug in the original PCMCIA-CAN card? There are a couple manufacturers of these.

Question :

The USB to pcmcia adapters are divided into "16-bit" and "32-bit"-adapters (for 16-bit or 32-bit cards).

Is the NI pcmcia 1-port (high speed) a 32-bit card?

Thanx!

Thomas.

Hi,

I've been reading some more about the usb => pcmcia adapters, and I am a bit concerned about
if it will work with the NI pcmcia CAN-card.
All these usb adapters seem to be developed for special applications (pcmcia wireless cards).

Is there a way to be sure it will work?

Thx!
Thomas.

I don't think you can know for sure until you test it.

The website says it probably won't work.

So I guess back to the USB to CAN adapters?
Can you advise me here?

Thomas.

My guess is that it would work. The 16-bit PCMCIA interface is a straightforward standard. I don't know what their product could do that would cause wireless ethernet PCMCIA cards to work and all others to not work. I'm not gauranteeing the PCMCIA-CAN  will work but I would be surprised if it didn't.

I don't know of any USB to CAN adapters.
