Is there a way to get a NI Serial ENET to work with XP-64?
I need to operate several remotely located serial devices. We purchased some NI Serial ENET devices. I have Win XP-64, but cannot find a set of NI Serial and VISA versions that will get it to work. Have tried the following:
- NI serial 1.8, 3.2, and 3.3
- NI VISA 4.0
Am working with MAX 4.6.0F1 and Labview 2009.

Hi,
Unfortunately, there is no driver available that supports the serial enet devices and Windows XP x64. Although a couple of the serial drivers you listed support Windows XP x64, in the readme it shows that this support is limited to PCI and PXI devices. VISA 4.0 supports Windows XP x64 but there is not a NI Serial version that supports the serial enet devices in that operating system.

While there is no NI-Serial driver for 64-bit Windows that will allow you to make the ports show up as native COM ports, as long as your application uses NI-VISA to communicate with the ports you can access them directly without NI-Serial on the system. Take a look at this KB for more information: How Can I Use My ENET Devices as a TCP/IP Resource?
