Labview 8.2 with Polyscience Circulator Bath

I'm completely new to Labview and don't know where to begin.  I have been reading the manual and the forum discussions and I am still a little fuzzy on where to begin.  I want to be able to control a Polyscience recirculator bath which I have connected through an RS232 connection.  I think have the the connection set up properly.  I was hoping maybe someone had a template for this that I could use?  Or at least point me in the right direction?

the way to handle serial instruments is:

first check idnet
http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/
if they have a driver available.

If not then check with the manual of the instrument and hyperterminal if there is some communication
If so try to write a driver or ask help if you are new to labview

The instrument came with a driver which I have installed.  I just wasn't sure how to set up the VI to control the instrument.  Thanks for your help.
