IOTech Personal488 PCI and LabVIEW

I have searched but did not find muchon this..

I have an IOTech Personal488 GPIB Card, it is installed in a WIN98SE machine. I am running LabVIEW 6.0.2. The GPIB Drivers are installed adn they find the card, but Labview does not see the card. I have sent an Email to IOTech for Driver for use with LabVIEW but I thought I would see if anyone else has successfully got this to work.

I need the IOTech card to be able to fuction with the Basic GPIB functions along with the VISA functions from LabVIEW. I have a feeling that is asking for too much. If it were my decision we would be ordering 2 NI cards, but it ultimately is not.. (I am still try to get them to upgrade to 7.1) but being the Only LabVIEW guy here makes it tough.

If you are trying to use the LabVIEW GPIB functions, they will not work. They are only for NI GPIB boards. MAX will not find the board because, it too, is only for NI hardware. According to IOTech's web site, with the board you should have received a set of LabVIEW drivers for their board. You would have to use these new functions instead. I didn't do a lot of searching of IOTech's web site but I didn't see anything there about the driver they supply having VISA support. If they don't provide the support, then you won't be able to use VISA to communicate with anything. You might want to mention that any money saved on the IOTech board will be lost because you can't use any any of the instrument drivers from NI without a lot of rework.

Dennis Thanks..

A tech for IOTech called me.. All I needed to do was manually move a dll from the install disk to the windows/system folder and all the Traditional 488 and 488.2 LabVIEW vi's will work, the VISA Will not work. I tried and verified that the traditional GPIB VIs from NI will work.

I have already informed my boss that the card will not work without reworking code. I am hoping he will order the NI cards along with a LV upgrade..

Thanks again

Hello, Jeff D.

May I know what you did to make the LabVIEW works with IOtech Personal 488 Card? What dll file have to move from the install disk to Window/System folder? I'm using IOtech Personal 488 Card as well, and I'd like to use LabVIEW as my developing environment. I asked for help from IOtech too but still waiting for their reply. Thanks for help.
