How do you interface a GPIB-232CT-A with Windows XP?

Hi,

I have a GPIB-232CT-A that I have been using with Windows 98se that works perfectly with the available National Instruments compatibility drivers. 

I am wondering if anyone has come up with a simple work around to be able to get the GPIB-232CT-A / NI-488.2 drivers to work with Windows XP.  When I try to run with either the DOS drivers or the Win drivers, it doesn't work.  Any suggestions???  I would like to get it to work with my laptop that uses XP as its operating system.

The drivers for the GPIB-232CT-A that abstract the GPIB -> Serial -> GPIB translation won't work on Windows XP, however you could still communicate directly to the device using normal serial communication.   The command set should be documented in the user manual. This is only valid using the device in S-mode.

Hi Doug,

Thank you for the reply.  I had figured this out from the online user manuals.  Unfortunately, I am not a programmer, about the best I can do is use Hyperterm.  I use the GPIB-232CT-A as a controller with a third party software program that looks for the NI-488.2 drivers.  I guess, I'll just have to stick with Windows 95/98/Me when I use this interface. 

Since the GPIB-232CT-A is a current product, is there any possibility that an updated driver will become available in the future?

Brian,
I am not aware of any development for an updated driver for this product -- however I would encourage you to leave feedback on our website if you want a driver update.  Development is driven largely by customer demand.  Some older products are still offered so that customers can replace pieces of a legacy system.
