How can I create a GPIB instrument in a PXI system?

Well, My insttrument is a PXI system, but now we want to supply a GPIB interface, which just  acts as a talker/listener (non-controller).
How can I do it ?

I'm not that in deep familiar with the 488 spec's (anymore...10a ago)
If you use a PXI-8196 (RT) controller you have a build in GPIB, you should(?) be able to set it to a slave
Now your software is your instrument.
Write your own loop (own task) that catch 488 event's and handle the write and read. This is your producer loop.
(and maybe handle stuff like:  case '*IDN?' is received, send 'MyDevice V0')
Your consumer loop handle the IO.
