I'm trying to help one of the analysts here who is having problems communicating with her instrument.  I am currently downloading the latest driver for the NI488.2 and will install it, but on the downloads page it makes mention of downloading the firmware too. 

I have zero experience working with these instruments, and I'm hoping just installing the driver will fix the issue, but I'm putting this out there just in case I need to further troubleshoot so someone that may have experienced this before may be able to give me some tips.

Open the Measurement and Automation eXplorer (MAX) and test the interface from there.
That gives some more information.

Hello,
Before installing new driver take out the GPIB card from your computer and then install the driver and put the card back in.

Installing the new driver in itself fixed the problem, but now that I'm suddenly responsible for these computers that run the instruments I've got a feeling I'm going to be visiting here more often.  I've got about a dozen instruments using this interface.
