Sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for your patience. I changed to '\'code display and the command can be send over to the power supply, however the timeout error still occurs when the command does not require a read from it. For example "IDN?" requires a read from the power supply, so theres no timeout error; but "System:Remote" only changes the remote control and the power supply does not send back signal so the timeout error occurs. (because it will never receive the read signal, of course exceed the timeout setting) Do you know how to avoid the error? Thanks.

Why would you even try to do a read when you do not send a query? The answer is simply don't read when you send non-query commands. Since it appears you may not have read the manual, a query is a command that ends with a question mark (?).

 

Since you are struggling with so many basics, you should download the driver and ask for someone to downconvert it to 6.1. Any chance you can use a version of LabVIEW from this century? Even getting an evaluation copy of 2010 will allow you 30 days to view the driver and manually copy the code.
