COM port shown in device manager but not detected by VISA

Hi,

We developed our own Embedded system. We need to LOG the data from Embedded System over USB(working virtual com port).

When the application is open 1st time, it working fine after some time communication goes fail and it gives the below error message.

VISA:  (Hex 0xBFFF0011) Insufficient location information or the device or resource is not present in the system.

But COM port shows in device manager.

How to solve the problem please any solution.

Can we open the COM port without closing the application. Is it possible.

Thank You.

Regards,

Hari.

This sounds a lot like the USB hub cutting out power to the USB/Serial adapter.  It is a power saving "feature".  Do through the power settings for the USB hub and make sure it doesn't ever remove power on you.

HI

No it is not like that we are not using USB hub/adapter.

We are using customized microcontroller based USB device.

On device side it shows sending data.

One more thing is that after the problem araisd PC device manager shows Virtual Com Port(COM).

But COM port not detected in MAX.

Thank you,

hari
