I get this same error number when I try to use the Agilent example VI offered on the NI website. I am using AGilent 34401A. Does anybody know how what this error number means? I am using RS232-USB cable (CableCreation USB to RS232 Adapter with PL2303 Chipset, 6.6ft USB 2.0 Male to RS232 Female DB9 Seria... installed the Agilent drivers from the NI website, found here ->
I am using Labview 2020/Windows 7. I see the cable creation adapter in my device manager, so, I think the driver for the adapter loaded correctly, but, I do not see the Agilent instrument anywhere. I tried several of the NI-provided example programs, but, when I select START, the Agilent instrument beeps loudly, and after a short time, 30-60 seconds, an error displays, and no value (e.g. DC voltage) ever appears in the VI. I spent hours last night trying lots of trouble-shooting, tested all 3 USB ports on the PC, testing every example VI in the NI Agilent folder. I would like to use the NI-offered example to collect a simple DV voltage a few times per second, and write the values to a spreadsheet .... was hoping it would be straightforward.
I appreciate any advice.
Thank you,
Dav

Have you tried the "Agilent 34401 Read Single Measurement.vi" example? Open LabVIEW>>Help>> Find Examples and search 34401 on the search tab.

Hi Thanks, GovBob,...yes I tried that example first, because it is exactly what I am trying to do...just read a single DC voltage value, a few times per second, maybe like 3 or 4 readings per second. But, all it does is beep, and then, it times out with that error, 1073807339 .
Ideally, what I"d like to do is write the voltage values to an Excel spreadsheet, but, when I tried that, NI indicated that it no longer supports the "write to Excel" function. What is the new way to write to a simple series of values to an excel file?

thanks for the suggestion, but, the instrument display is not interrupted in any way. Instead, it continues to display the voltage being measured. That error number 107380739 is an NI number that appears in the example VI.

Have you tried to see how it appears in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) or are you using the Keysight connection expert. In MAX see if you can communicate with it. You might be having a VISA conflict so look under MAX to see your list of installed software.

Thank you, GovBob! What a chore to make the 34401a work!!! But, thanks.
