Siemens comm from PXIe without OPC-UA

I have been communicating with a Siemens S7-1200 (via comfort panel) using OPC-UA, from a PXIe based Labview Realtime (PharLap) system. Working fine. Then I 'upgraded' to LV2017 for other reasons (from LV2015) and found that LV (without ANY notification or documentation that I saw) has pulled support for OPC-UA from PharLap (and made it a separate licensed product, but only for Linux RT!). I still need to communicate with the Siemens, and I know very little about them - I'll need to farm out whatever Siemens programming is required. Not much data - about 100 control and status registers at about 2 Hz. So, any advice on the easiest way to communicate between PXIe (LV realtime) and Siemens, now that OPC-UA is unsupported?
