I am working on an application that needs to stablish a Profinet communication with a Siemens PLC. The PLC must sendo to the CompactRIO a 20 character string and a status byte. I want to stablish a simple hanshaking that when the CompactRIO receives a new data it sends and acknowledgment back to the PLC.
Is it possible to stablish this type of communication using the Profinet Slave module?
Is there any limitations about the module being a Profinet Slave?
one Limitation the module has are max data pay load of 254 bytes. But that should not affect you. The data cycle has a status included but if you want to check the data on FPGA first and then send an acknowledgement that should be easy to do with this module.
