NI-9882, is FPGA needed?

Solved!
Go to solution

Does the NI-9882 work without an FPGA on the cRIO or cDAQ? A colleague has warned me the FPGA is required but the documentation does not cover this or I've missed it.

Understandably it does require the DeviceNet software to be installed.

If someone could clarify this it would be great.

Hi FixedWire,

Depends on the chassis you're using. The 9882 is not supported on cDAQ. Most cRIOs do need FPGA for this to work, with the exception of cRIO-904x and cRIO-905x (source). If you're using one of the cRIOs that does require FPGA, here are the instructions to set up the project.

Thank you that really helped. Please do add the link to the products page and save the next person a few minutes.
